Composition and Literature A

Course Description:

 The principle concern of Composition and Literature A is mastering the process of writing effective compositions. It also gives students exposure to various literary models including short stories, plays, essays, poetry and novels, in order to enhance fundamental literacy.  In addition, students will work to further develop their vocabulary and grammar skills. Composition and Literature A is high school level class (grades  9-10) tailored  to serious language arts students motivated to take on challenging writing and reading assignments.

Student Expectations:

1. Be on Time. Class starts at 10:25 and ends at 12:30.

2. Come prepared with all books, materials, and homework. Class Participation points may be taken away if materials are missing.

3. Demonstrate respect for everyone. Romans 12:10

4. Work hard. Colossians 3:17

5. Have a positive attitude. Philippians 2:14-16


Things to Remember...

1. All essays must be typed using 12-point font and DOUBLE SPACED.
2. All assignments must have a heading on the top left hand corner of the page in the following format:
          Name
          Assignment
          Class Name
          Date Due
 3. Always cite your sources. Never use another person's ideas as your own. Plagiarism is a very serious offense!
4. Whenever posting anything on the blog remember to check for errors before publishing.

1. Pen
2. Plentiful supply of white lined paper
3. 2" or larger binder that includes the following sections clearly marked with dividers:

Lit. Terms
Tests and Quizzes
Other
 

***Remember that your notebook may be checked at random times and graded as a quiz based upon organization, neatness, and possession of all required materials (above), notes and handouts.
