The Unknown Bench

By Abbey

As I sit on this bench, my mind starts to wonder what all it has been through and what it has seen. Who knows all who have set on this bench. A person could have made a decision about salvation while sitting on this bench. I bet some people read their Bibles and pray on this bench. Others may have sang on this bench, while others have fallen off of this bench. Some have had their first kiss on this bench, some may have even proposed to the love of their life on this bench. While others may have been talking to a loved one who was in the army and was about to go out to war on this bench. Someone could have even talked to someone who was dying on this very bench. This bench could be the place you meet someone that will change your life forever. This bench could be the last place you talk to anybody. This one little bench lost in this garden that most people don't even think about, or even know about, could have been the place that changed someones life forever, and people don't even know.

I love how you took the ordinary thing and instead of just writing about what you see, you made it seem special. The way you wrote with all the questions really gave room for imagination and made me remember or think about the times I've experienced the things you said could have happened at that bench.

Good job, I enjoyed the fact that you took the bench and thought of what might have happened. Very imaginative, and the paragraph flowed smoothly.

I love how your paragraph highlights what happened on the bench and how it might be special to someone, instead of just describing what it looks like. That's a very creative way to think about it. Great Job!

I love this, Abbey! It played out different scenarios that could have happened on that bench -- things that could have altered someone forever. And I'll never know if any of them really happened or not! That bench holds so many stories and secrets. You did a wonderful job. The simplicity of the paragraph was great. (:

Abbey,
This bench really inspired you! I love the piece. You have such concrete examples of events that could have happened. You really bring meaning and significance to an otherwise ordinary bench. Job well done! :)

Very creative! i like that you sorta *almost but not quite* used personification. You did a good job about making the reader think about what the bench has gone through, very thought provoking.

Well I certainly don't look at that bench the same. I feel like you took something old and unoticed that has pretty much always been there, and you brought a whole new importance to it. It's like you renewed it and brought what I thought of it back to life. Great Job!
